I've been using this tool I picked -up at United referigeration for around $25.00 and thought I would share it w/ you all....If you already use one...what do think???
It is used to open solenoids by magnetically lifting the stem assembly and plunger...slides right overenclosing tube, can be used on mkc1 mkc2 omkc works on direct acting and pilot operated valves 2-way,3-way,and 4-way reversing valves...best tool i ever bought...great troubleshooter!!!

yes a must have for the tool box , very usefull tool trouble shooting , when recovering refrigeant from decommisioned rack systems with hot gas defrost , your normal recovery points do not always get at all of the system , the last one i worked on we had 4 of the magenetic openers in use as we decommisioned equipment , we had no surprises .

I have an emerson solonoid tool.It is a spanner wrench, magnetic opens solonoid valves with up to 250 psi and it adjusts the stem if needed.Pretty cool tool it was 75.00 worth every penny.

Does the emerson tool work on just emerson valves? The one United sells works on a couple of different ones.

Got 3 of those magnets. They're awesome.

One of the guys I work with was showing me this, though. It looks pretty cool, especially if you're trying to troubleshoot load/unload valves on screw compressors or any other solenoid valve that quickly opens and closes.

Old post but will reply. got one operating a system right now....will change out the solonoid this week. Buys me some time as long as sysem doesn't freeze up with employee manual defrost. Lol.

The only issue I believe with the Emerson magnet doesn't fit over all solenoid valves. The bore isn't large enough, just picked up the cps version and it has a 3/4 bore which should fit over any solenoid valve.
