First, is anyone using a little giant style ladder? And if so, is anyone using a LG ladder with one of those racks that hang the ladder inside on the roof of the van?
Also, do those inside setups get in the way like they look like they would?
I have a ladder rack for my van, and got it free with purchase, but I think it looks better without it, and I hear the gas mileage is better as well.
Thanks for any ideas and answers to the questions.

I like the Little Giant ladders. Sometimes, they are the only thing that will get the job done.

The ability to put a side 1 rung lower than the other side allows you to get right next to a wall and avoid straddling the top of a conventional ladder.

Uneven surfaces like a roof or stairs.

There are no spreaders like a regular ladder, so the LG can be set up over many obstacles like some furniture and short walls.

If you do anything but reesidential work, the aluminum LG ladder can get you kicked off a jobsite because it is conductive.

The fiberglass LG ladder is heavier than the Al version.

Yeah, never really understood the conductivitiy thing. How many electrical wires are within 10 feet of a roof that I would set a ladder up against? None! I have not seen the fiberglass version, but I would not want one to be any heavier than the one I have used that was aluminum.

I use knock off that my kids gave me. I use it for access into attic mostly. Works great because of being able to extend it to the size needed.

I have two Little Giants. One is the fiberglass and the other aluminum. Both fit inside my van - a 10 ft cube - upright against the racks or wall between the cab and body. I can't see putting them on a ladder rack of any kind cause they fold up to a small size.

What size are they? I don't think I could do that with a regular van. What I am asking about is one of the rack designs that are on the inside of the van, mounted on the underside of the roof. Just wondering if anyone uses that setup.

I have the werner 22 version. My van has no shelving on the right side so I have it strapped up over there. my six and four footer are strapped to the ceiling. I never used to carry the werner just because of the weight but now that I have it in there it's used a lot. Has saved me throwing the 32ft. :)

What ladder are we talking about now?

I'm not sure if the Brand is Little Giant, but I did look at the ladder that attaches to a track on the inside roof of your van. The big downside I saw was the vehicle has to be away from, oh say another vehicle, a building, etc. the length of the ladder so you can pull it out. Plus my luck I'd keep banging my head on it...

I use it everyday just about. I've never had a problem with it collapsing on me.
How high does this ladder really allow you to climb? How do you extend it and take it back down to the packing size? Do you carry an a frame ladder as well, or does this ladder allow for a frame assembly?

Collapsed its about 30" tall

It's adjustable in height all the way to 12' in one foot increments.

The rungs of the ladder fit inside themselves like an old car radio antennae.

I've done away with all my other ladders.
