Mitsubishi 12,000 btu with hyper heat (mszfe12na)

First post here it goes!

Finishing a Bonus room for a customer. 16X24 room dims with a 4 ft knee wall 30 degree angle ceiling with a max height of 8 ft. The room is spray foam insulated. i advised customer Mitsubishi 12,000 btu with hyper heat (mszfe12na) should be sufficient for this room size and how well it is insulated. However they had H-vac guy out to quote and he says it needs a Mitsubishi 22,000 btu mini split!!! i thinks it a little over kill... any advise??

climate is Northern Ohio...

give me some advise experts.

Heat load

i did and came up with right around 11,000 btu's. Just wanted to make sure someone else could confirm this since i am no HVAC Professional.

I would listen to the hvac professional. How cold does it get in O-Hi-O?

Was your heat load 11k cooling or 11k heating?

The contractor may have recommended a larger unit for the purposes of heating the room instead of cooling.

Great system by the way!

16x24, 8ft ceiling
How many, what size and what type of windows?
What's the R-value of the insulation in the ceiling and walls?
What kind of floor is it (crawl-space, cement, basement)?
What kind of flooring (wood, carpet)?
What's the zip code?

With this information I can run a heat load for you. =)

Fujitsu I might do A 22,000 as well. With the inverter varaible capacity 9900-27300 I wouldnt worry about being over sized in cooling.

I'm getting 11k heating, 6.6k cooling.

The colder it gets outside, the less efficiently the mini-split will work. Oversizing the system will compensate for the up to 30% loss in capacity when it gets cold.

I agree with the contractor. A 22k system would be the best option. A 12k would work most of the time, but may not produce enough warm air on the coldest days.

That's why i was thinking the mszfe12na with muzfe12na with the hyper heat holding efficiency down to the single digits.....

Maybe just go with the bigger size then not disappointed!
