Interesting that they do not know how to calculate cubic feet. They say the largest volume that the unit should handle is six cubic feet, 6' X 6' X 6'.

I make that closer to 216 cubic feet......

I made a dog house air conditioner when I was 17. It cooled a doghouse with two rooms about 7X7. I made it out of an old domestic refrigerator compressor. I used a metal heater core from a car for the evaporator and a coil of copper for the condenser. I used R-12. The condenser fan was made from workings of a "clip-on" six inch fan that I bought at the drugstore for like 6 bucks. The evaporator fan was the condenser fan from the refrigerator that I got the compressor from. Since this doghouse had an attic, I made it a split system with the air handler in the attic! There was a doggie-door on the doghouse. It worked pretty well and was quite the talk of my neighborhood for a few weeks.

I'm thinking you should change your name to MacGyver!

I'd go at her with a Mr. Slim 9,000 Btu with inverter technology. That gets you down into the 3,000 Btu range on the slowest speed and I'm sure if you put it into the dehumidification mode it would be much lower. As for the HEPA filter, I'm not sure how you planned it but I'd just put in a separate filtration system. You could contact Abatement Technologies out of Georgia. They have stand alone HEPA filtration systems.

I would go for the Mitsubishi, because you never know if the dog has parties and all the other doggies come over from the hood and they start cooking and having a good time, the heat load would increase and therefore the need for the larger system. Did you do a manual J on this? Have you filed the proper permit for this? Reminds me of that old picture of all the dogs hanging around the pool table playing pool.

omg... really? it must be nice to have those kind of issues. I can't wait till the day i get a service call on one of these, I bet they have srvc ports and are made for ease of service.... not
