Inspection Camera

My testo 318-V took a crap on me:stinks: It actually started giving me trouble about a month after I bought it. The screen goes blank and you gotta bend the head around and then it comes back on but now it wont come back on at all.

there is actually a lot of competition for these scopes

how is the picture quality? On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate it

I would give it a 9 as long as there is plenty of light. My only complaint is that the LED's on the camera seem to be a little weak and I always have to use an auxiliary light source in spaces that are extremely dark. All of the features work flawlessly. I especially like the wireless setup between the actual camera and the monitor. Hope this helps.

Thanks Indy! one more question the wand on the testo was in some serious need of viagra. How is the wand on the extech?

Anybody have the Milwaukee one they sell at HD? There are two, this one is the more expensive... just curious if it works well.

I have bought 2 of the similar units from Harbor Freight, CenTec brand, and they are crap.

first one did not work at all, and second one, display won't work off the "gun".

both went/going back.

hello. i have the milwaukee one. came with a driver,small but great for taking multiple covers off rtu's on p/m's. batteries seem to last long too even in the cold winter after 2 weeks of rolling around in back of my van. the camera hs 3 different magnifications and light settings. i like so far. hadit about a year. good luck

I have the one from HD. It is the less expensive on and it works wells and even came with a free drill/driver. It works well and fits into some very tight spots. I have even got it into some tubular heat exchangers with no problems.

there are so many of the exact same model from the link on my 1st post (different manufactures) but look the same.

I just wonder if they are all of the same quality??? they are also in the same price range, just google wireless inspection scope 3''

I bought the more expensive Milwaukee at HD... M# M-Specter-AV

The unit is kinda expensive (4 'C' notes), however it has an actual camera function and an SD storage card in it. One can actually take a picture and transfer it to one's laptop. This feature was what I am interested in, to have documentation of a bad HXE and actually print it into a proposal to sell a new unit. If the customer rejects that, they can sign the picture of a hole in the HXE...

The unit also has a zoom feature as well as a dimmer on the lighting of the camera. The camera is 17 mm, which is just barely less than 3/4". This means it will fit into a 3/4" hole.

The only thing I do not care for on this unit is that it came with only one battery.. I guess I will have to spring for a second battery from Milwaukee... and pay too much for it.
