Should auxiliary heat be on all the time? My thermostat always reads auxiliary heat-on. I dont think my heat pump is working correctly. The pipe leading from the heat pump to under the house is always ice cold. I had the compressor replaced in February and I am having the same problems now that I did in February. The company just put another compressor in in December and its still cold in my house with the auxiliary heat on. What could be the problem??? I am tired of $400 electric bills...help!!!

tell me about..this has been going on for 2 months...they fixed the crank case heater and starting capicitor first...then the compressor...then put a new thermostat up..then put nitrogen in the system because one of the lines was clogged and still the same problem i was having before they started doing work. Should the pipe from the heat pump to under the house be warm to the touch or should it be ice cold, even though the unit has been running all day.

yea its a heat pump...is the pipe from the heat pump that goes under the house supposed to be warm to the touch or is it supposed to be cold all the time???

Your on all electric heat and have been for some time. Sounds like the other co FUBAR'ed it. Hope its still salvageable but you may need a whole new system, don't call them back no matter what.
