Greetings! Has anyone had any problems with Motor Current faults with this particular condensing unit-YCUZ880E8? Been fighting this one for a while. Compressor 1 occasionally faults on Motor Current. Problem: ISN reads low motor current but an amp meter indicates approx 2/3 RLA. Also, sometimes the contactors will not energize at startup. I'm thinking either a wiring issue or main processing board. I've gone over all wiring connections several times. CT has been changed as well as relay board no.1. MP and HP switch are not the culprits. I hate being a parts changer so any fresh ideas would be much appreciated. Cheers! Dean.

The only thing a low motor current fault is telling you is that you have a start signal generated in the microprocessor and have no current feedback to verify that you are running. This could be anything from a bad pin connector in a wiring plug, to someone stole the windings out of the motor. I know that sounds pretty vague, but it's a vague fault. A thousand different things can cause it. My suggestion would be to pull up the motor current readout and begin starting/stopping the compressor. If it starts, but has a readout of 0 amps, look at the CT wiring and circuitry. If it don't start when called for, then you have to trace down why.

Also, you might want to update your profile. There's absolutely nothing in there about you or your experience level. We all find it a lot more comforting to know who it is we're talking to. Tell us you're the chief refrigeration engineer at NASA - we won't know the difference.
