Hey guys any thoughts? I have a fujitsu FCC4821TSA coil that is no longer available and I'm trying to find something close that will work. The furnace is a FF100215TT96M Fujitsu,100k,21" cab. The condenser is a Fujitsu FO4214CSJNAC 3.5 ton, single stage. Their are 2 coils I'm looking at but would like to bounce it off the forum to see if anyone has a better idea or thought. This is for a family members cabin up north and they are looking to save $$ so trying to find the cheapest route for them to not replace the whole a/c system. One of the coils is RCFZ4921STANMC "rheem". The other is a aspen DC48A3G-210-416.

I've seen too many premature Aspen failures to voluntarily put another one in.

Rcfz would be a great match if still available for a reasonable price.

You could also be our experiment and use a new rcfy so we can find out what sort of superheat a 454b TXV maintains in a 410a application.

You could use a 4-ton Goodman r32 TXV coil and I'm confident it would work well.

I would be the guinea pig but I don't think I would be able to get one for the same price. The rcfz I can get for about $ The rcfy is probably 2.5 times that. But I have been hearing that they are essentially the same thing. I guess some were leaving the factory and just having a r454b sticker just slapped on top of the r410a. Most likely tru as they seem to run at just about identical design pressures.

Pricing is not permitted per site rules

I just meant that since the coils are identical if you swapped out the 454b and replaced with 410a the fellas with bigger brains than me say it will operate at 10% reduced capacity. Not that it would be a deal breaker but if you ever run into that situation it's something to keep in mind when sizing equipment. I do think it will be situations we will end up running into the next 10 years or so. As the 410a systems start to age and customers want piece there stuff back together as cheap as possible. We will start to have to cross reference compatible 454b coils as replacements once inventory of the 410a stuff becomes un obtainium.

You're saying that 454b coils are 10 percent smaller? Or are you talking about the txv's? My assumption was that the new coils themselves were virtually identical to the 410 models; but with TXVs around 20 percent smaller than before.

We could both be right. It's possible that a 20 percent smaller TXV could reduce capacity by ten percent--unless your coil is half a ton oversized

Can you put a All.Style brand coil? Their coils are also r32 and r454b compatible for future condenser change out. Their also priced well.

I was curious about those as well. I've never used one. But I read the specs. They advertise they are compatible with most refrigerants r32,r454b,410a. I wonder if you have to install a different txv for each thought. It didn't really say and it it didn't say what txv came with the coil. I think that was adp.

You can put a piston or bolt on a txv. They are nice coils as of Performance wise. They are cheaply made and will cut your fingers easily if your not careful. But other then that they are a good bargain price wise and perform well. Plus there height usually fits well for shorter coil applications and when height is a issue.
