I have a new iPhone - although for no really good reason. But I think if I had known more at the time I would have gotten a Razor phone. They are large-screen but fold in half. This friggin iPhone is like lugging an iPad around.

Google is not as fluent in ******* as it should be so it misspells a lot of words or puts in the wrong words for me.
I feel your pain, being raised up in Florida, Georgia and Alabama, Google's speech to text gets real confused...lol!

I moved up from Orlando in about 1995 or thereabouts. Mama lived in Gordon, Alabama, little teeny town right on the Chattahoochee River. My father-in-law had had a bad stroke, and mama called me asking for my help.

Gordon, Alabama is in the far southeast corner about 5 mi from the Georgia state line and about 10 mi from the Florida state line. I worked in Donaldsonville for a while at a speed shop turning wrenches. Then I finally found me a job at Purdue chicken in Dothan, Alabama as a refrigeration mechanic. Move to Albany, Georgia 5 years later, working for an air conditioning company.

My health started deteriorating but I found a job in Texas as a paper pusher. That lasted about 6 months, then the company folded. I've decided that I like the weather in Texas and the people and stayed.

I have a question about HVAC-Talk. I was reading an old thread and I wondered the following.

How old is the site? (Original forum)
Who started it?
What is the oldest archived post?
Did it date all the way back to pre modern internet? Like a Bulletin Board Service?

This site is a treasured resource though I rarely stray from the controls world. I thank everyone who started it and continues to maintain it.
Suggestion maybe there should be an about tab? Maybe there is? I see nothing on Wikipedia though Wikipedia looks like it links back to this site on various articles.

I don't know all the answers, but HVAC-Talk has been around well over 20 years. My understanding is that it was started by a man named Don Sleath (sp?) to promote his load calc software, and then the site took off on it's own. It's had several owners over the years. Word is that the little critter next to the banner was drawn by his young daughter.

I emailed Don and to my surprise he replied. Here is his response:

"I started it in the year 2000. The Internet was very young at that time and it just seemed like a good idea, a challenge and I had the background and skills to try it. A good use of the Internet."

Thanks to everyone involved. I have learn much from all the participants. Over the years, have been concerned about my current opinions and how as we learn, our opinions turn out not to be factual due new lessons learned. But all in all, very well done by all. As a group, I am impressed all of you.

Thanks again. Does this sound like 85 year old crasy guy.

Regards Teddy Bear
