My hvac company put in a condensate pump . It gurgles constantly when it's running. Water coming back down the plastic tubing. They told me there is nothing I can do. It's very annoying and embarrassing when u have people over. My hvac is basically in the center of the house so I hear it in every room. Is there anyone out there who knows how to stop this. I'm at my wits end

I'm subscribing to this thread because I'd also like to know if there is an answer.

What I'm guessing is going on is that your pump is higher up than where the other end of the tubing ultimately goes to. This creates a syphon to occur. Basically what happens is that the pump turns on and gets the water moving, and then the water keeps moving on it's own after the pump shuts off, until the pump is completely sucked dry, causing the gurgling noises that you hear.

I've seen this happen several times, and as far as I know the only way to fix it is to somehow redo it so that the pump only pumps upwards.

I have heard of things called syphon breakers, but I don't really know what they are or how they work. Anyone else?

The pump is almost on the floor then they're is a plastic tubing and copper tubing that go up through the attic and then the copper tubing goes outside and is attached to the outside wall. Some of the water comes back down the plastic tubing and makes the gurgling

That the check valve is bad.
I’d also put flat armorflex between the pump and deck to lower the sound.

There should be a check valve built into the pump to prevent water from "coming back down the plastic tubing" like you think it's doing. If this were happening, the pump would constantly be turning on and off as the pump fills back up again after shutdown.

I still suspect what's happening is what I described earlier. Is the end of the copper tubing lower than the pump? If so, I'll bet the water is getting syphoned out of the pump and that's the noise that you hear.

I'd vote for the siphon issue. cut the tubing high where goes out and stick it into pc pipe so water will drain down, but not draw a suction on the tubing.
