In July 2023, I spent $xxK to upgrade my HVAC system with four (2 & 3 ton) Trane XV20i + variable-speed air handlers + XL850 thermostats. Sadly, it turned out to be a downgrade, and I wish I had my old (20-year-old) HVAC system back.
The new Trane HVAC system cannot maintain a constant temperature in my house. On any given zone, the temperature fluctuates +/- 5°F at any given time!
(Also, the "state-of-the-art" XL850 stat looks like it was teleported from 2003. The bulky design, bright LCD screen (even at the dimmest setting), with the temperature moving across the screen like a screensaver from your old set-top box (presumably to prevent burn-in), and the awkward user interface are just some of the problems with this piece of junk. Unfortunately, the XL850 or XL1050 are the only options if you want to take advantage of the "energy-efficient variable-speed HVAC system" such as the XV20i.)
My installer convinced me to go with Trane. I should have done my research. Now I'm $xxK poorer and stuck with a crappy HVAC system that won't maintain a constant temperature in my house.
I'm very disappointed with Trane. Not sure what to do. I would be grateful for any constructive feedback & advice.
Thx
