Any tips on what I should ask our technician to check for after the drain replacement? Thank you

Is there a field installed filter drier somewhere on the lineset copper tubing? If so ask them if they plan on removing it or replacing it if,….and that’s a if, they have to open the system up. Goodman installs one inside the outdoor unit from the factory, so a field installed one by the Contractor is not necessarily needed. If there is one thou, I would tell them to replace it.

You got one of these ( filter drier ) anywhere on your lineset starting at the outdoor unit to the indoor coil, not necessarily this color.

If they have to cut the lineset and open the system up, and after pan is swapped out, and they reinstall existing refrigerant, they should come back in summertime to double check your refrigerant charge is to manufacturers specifications. It’s to cold out to be running the A/C. So make sure that happens.

Another question is, if…. They open the A/C system will they be reusing the existing refrigerant or install virgin R410A refrigerant. New refrigerant is a nice thing.

If there is enough wiggle room ( able to slide coil out somewhat ) on the lineset, they may be able to slide the coil out enough to swap out the coil pan. If not they would have to recover the refrigerant or put the refrigerant in the outdoor unit and cut the copper tubing by the coil ( they would need to remove the two plastic furnace flue pipes to have access to coil. )

Chances the pan they will be replacing is the same pan used for oil furnace applications. When using a oil furnace ( due to higher operating temperatures than a gas furnace ) Goodman wants the standard pan swapped out to the high temperature drain pan.

Right or wrong that’s my :.02: worth..

Thank you very much! I don't remember seeing anything like this but I will check for the lineset.
Hmm, now I remember just recently one of our neighbors had an HVAC van standing in front of their unit for a couple of hours, and the contractor was running back and forth with pieces of copper tubing. I was surprised since I don't think we have any copper pipes. Next time I see those neighbors, I will ask what kind of issue they had. Maybe the same.

Also, there is a person on this forum who is trying to figure out a similar sounding Goodman issue. I can't post on this thread, but maybe he has to replace a drain pan too. Were to go from here... Goodman GMES960803BN manual lockouts

“I was surprised since I don't think we have any copper pipes.”

Nothing really for the furnace side, but the A/C side yes definitely, called a lineset. It’s called tubing ( copper tubing ) more so than pipes. Again if there is enough movement on your lineset copper tubing by the indoor coil they can just slide the coil out enough to replace the pan then just slide the coil assembly back in. If not then there is more work and they need to cut the copper tubing by the coil.

My thinking, right or wrong ( copper pipes ) “pipes” refers to copper water pipes in a resident or baseboard heating copper pipes :grin2:
