A few days ago, the power company knocked on the door and said they'd be cutting off the power for an hour to fix something. I guess because of the moderate temperatures recently, I didn't notice that I apparently haven't had A/C since then.

When I check the thermostat (I think I have the ComfortLink II XL1050), I get an error box saying to contact a dealer, which it doesn't look like I can dismiss from the screen (i.e., I can't access the normal functionality of the thermostat). Specifically, the error is 126.00.

After looking around a little more online, I've been able to gather some more information:
- Per the diagnostic tool, the error description is: "Equipment reporting does not match the equipment originally discovered"
- The Alert History shows a number of errors, but they're all from the day that the power was turned off and they're all the same 126.00 error.
- The "Summary Table" shows that the Primary Zone Expander is offline. The Relay Panel and Communicating Sensor are online. FYI, I'm really not sure what any of this means.

So far, the only things I've done to try to fix the issue are to 1) reset the main circuit breaker for the entire house and 2) reboot the thermostat, neither of which worked.

There's an outdoor heat pump and a main unit in the crawl space. I haven't done anything to either of those. A few specific questions:
- Is it possible that I just need to reset something outside or in the crawl space? I don't see anything like a reset button the heat pump, but maybe there is something there if I remove the panel. I haven't gotten into the crawl space yet.
- Is there something else I can reset on the thermostat to make it all work again, possibly just clearing the previous errors?

This seems like something that almost has to have an easy fix, but I just have no knowledge about HVAC systems. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I just shut off power to the entire house for about 10 minutes, but still got the error. Would that be sufficient or do I need to shut off the furnace and heat pump separately? The circuit breaker panel isn't well marked, so I would probably need to figure out how to power them off separately.

Does your screen look like this ?
Yes, that's what I have on the screen. The bullet points from the first post pretty much show what each of those boxes say:
- Current Alerts shows the error and gives the description
- Alert History shows that I have a bunch of identical errors (all 126.00 and from the day the power was cut off)
- Summary Table shows that that the Primary Zone Expander is offline, but the Relay Panel and Communicating Sensor are online.

Yes. The screen that you posted is from the service menu. If I hold down the "Technician Access" button, it opens up a number of options, including Diagnostics, which takes me to the screen you posted.

The factory reset would most likely be generic and not custom tailored to your system.
How well do you know your system ?
Not well.

FYI, I think I posted this in the wrong subforum (I just posted in the same subforum as another question I found via Google). I'm just a homeowner with little to no HVAC knowledge.

I believe you can put in a claim yes.
It's worth a call at the least you're gonna have to get a tech over there to sort things out.
Just to be clear, you're saying I will have to call an HVAC company, get it fixed, and then file a claim? Or do you think the power company has people that can deal with it directly?

I'm assuming the first one, but who knows. I was planning to call someone tomorrow, anyway.
