A previous post got me wondering if my current Aprilaire Media Cabinet Model 1210 uses too restrictive of a filter— currently a 4 inch item# 210 Merv 11 filter.

Does this restrict airflow too much? I can’t seem to find anything lower than a Merv 11 filter from Aprilaire that could ft into this cabinet assembly. Does anyone know of any other options with lower Merv than 11?

Would one of the box frame ones work in the cabinet as long as it the same size? My current one is of the collapsible type with the hinge connectors in the cabinet.

Thanks.

Has a .16 pressure drop at 1600 cfm. A 100k and 4ton sometimes requires two filter systems depending on how correctly the supply and return ducts are designed.

You will not find many other filter designs that are much less than the #210 filter at that airflow.

Those Aprilaires really hold the dust before they get restrictive. Ours was filthy so I took a static pressure reading over it. Then I put in a new 1" pleated. The new 1" was almost twice the restriction of the filthy Aprilaire. And as the others say, clean is really less restrictive.

Thanks.

Anyone ever test the pressure drop of a standard 1in fiberglass “cheap” filter? How do they compare to the 4in Aprilaire 210s?

My size is 20x25 but it goes into a media cabinet. Can I just throw in a fiberglass one to see if there is any sound difference or will those not fit correctly in the cabinet?
