I had been installing 3 to 5 ton Armstrong AHUs for heat pumps. (Allied)
I have had many problems with intermittent restrictions in AC mode. Diagnosed as bad TXV, I have replaced plenty under two years old. When I pull the equilizer 1/4" flare off the suction header, I find the schrader core in the 1/4" tap rendering the equilizer tube as useless, as there is no gas pressure at the equalizer line.
The core is very tight to the point it can't be removed. I end up adding an access "T" with pin depressor to correct the issue.
I have had more than three of these AHU with this issue.
Armstrong is not aware of this or won't admit it. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I am in a position to prove that this does exist, since I couldn't remove the schrader valve core.
