I have a 5 ton system that is short cycling through the low pressure switch. Air coming out of the condenser gets hot then cools constantly and the liquid line get really hot. Restricted TXV?

It's not that you have to understand the situation I'm on a tiny little Island and a friend of mine took over this restaurant that has had multitude in multitude of problems he's in the middle of lunch rush system is Cooling so I'm doing my best to try to get him through this without shutting everything down

We need s.h and s.c.....?

We need to know what pressure the high and low are when the unit shut off?

Just feeling and touching is all well and good but to troubleshoot need some sort of numbers. Even if it is ambient and condenser exhaust air temp. And return temp and supply temp.

Have you tested and verified that the low pressure switch is opening or what is opening?

Yes I have it is. It says I only have 4 degrees of super heat. My suction side is bouncing and my amp draw is going up and down and there is a hot spot on the condenser that gets really hot and then cools down. High side is about 315 and low side goes from 1r8 to 150. And the compressor sounds like its winding.

If your low pressure switch is opening at over 100# suction which I think you meant to post 108 of 118. Then you have an issue with the low pressure switch.

The bouncing pressures and temps may be from other issues.
Is the condenser coil clean, not just looks clean but you have spayed water thru it and it is clean?
Is the evaporator coil clean, blower wheel, filter clean?

Compressor is winding? Do you mean hissing? May have a partially open internal bypass, due to not maintaining the condenser coil?

What is your subcooling doing?

Sounds like a vibration that comes and goes I don't know how else to describe it
I base my reply’s on the info given. In this case ......absolutely Zero.

If you can’t get just a little bit more technical then this is D I Y!
