Has anyone ever gotten a bacnet router setup as a "remote field bus" JCI indicated I think at 7.0 that one could add another MS/TP bus using a router so a NAE35 would look like a NAE55 with two buses. I have been for years using bacnet routers however you can not use CCT through the internet this way without special port forwarding besides 80.

I have done it numerous times. It works good. The big difference between just doing a generic bacnet router, is that you gain all the proprietary functions like pass through.
It also is a great option if you want isolate devices that misbehave on the trunk (like some Trane RTU’s) .

What model router have you used? I have tried using contemporary controls basrt-b and have been unsuccessful. I wouldn't think one model would be different then another for this.

JCI literature recommends LOYTEC routers for remote networks.

I did see that but I wouldn't think it would matter. Loytec is very proud of their router compared to a contemporary one. I just feel like I am missing something but maybe it is simply the manufacturer.

I've used both of those. Some of the guys prefer the loytec, and some like the Contemporary Controls.
It is true that the recommended one is the Loytec.
The tech support guys at Contemporary Controls are great if you are having trouble.
Make sure you get the network numbers right because that's how metasys binds to it internally.
What sort of problems are you having?

The problem is that I can't discover anything on the mstp side. If I manually add devices they never come online. I will give contemporary controls support a go. Thank you for confirming it will work now I know it is me!

DId you get this working?

One thing to note, you must be at version 8 or higher for it to work as Remote Field Bus. And have version 10.2 of CCT. And last if you are using the router under 10 JCI controllers, there is a patch coming up to support this. We've found a problem which causes the device to go offline if we have only 1 or 2 devices connected to the RFB.

I you still are having issues - repost and I'll provide you with a word doc which we created on how to get this working.
