Good Afternoon,
Sorry, I am a newb to HVAC so this question may have been covered elsewhere but was looking for some direction. I have a been having issues cooling with one indoor head unit. We have a LG mini split unit(Model# LMU366HV). We have a total of two indoor units and one cools fine and the other does not, blows warm air. I noticed there is icing on one of lines coming from the head unit(I think it may be to the one that is working). I called the installer (we have had this system for 7 years) and he installed something in the line to fix a leak and he added refrigerant. It didn't work and he was going to get back to me. Within a few hours it started to work fine but them stopped again a few days ago(still ice on the one line). I called the installer again, he said there may be moisture in the refrigerant and he will be putting in a filter to remove the moisture. Do you think it really is that or is it something else? Thanks for any advice you may have.

Mini splits often do not allow a filter drier to be installed.
And even still, they do not remove moisture. They hold it.

What got added, leak seal?

I had a similar issue with another brand. But what was happening was that the outdoor unit would shut down to protect itself. I was unable to get back to finish the call since my only resolution was that for some reason the EEV was not letting enough refrigerant through and freezing the system or there was a problem with the circuit board controlling the valve. This was a 3 port outdoor with only 2 indoor heads.

Yes, I believe so. It was something he put into the refrigerant line.
Not sure that is a good idea with a ductless system.

He needs to find the leak. Most likely at a flare connection.

Thanks for the advice. I am guessing it must be low on refrigerant again and that is causing the line to freeze up. I will have him look for the leak.

I have another question regarding AC contractors. Can I use a contractor who installs other brands take a look at it or should I use the same company who installed the LG? I looked online and the nearest LG contractor is 160 miles away... The company who installed mine doesn't sell LG anymore.

Any contractor that services mini splits!
