General we do a lot of work for called us about a house they're using as a field office for a project. Said they wanted the HVAC units evaluated as it's going to be another few years till this place is torn down.
Nobody mentioned the flooded oil burner in the basement.
There's two sump pumps down there but neither one works. They also asked, if I could find out why they don't have any hot water.......
Oh, and the best part was I caught some static when I said I wasn't touching it till the basement is pumped dry.

If that were the case, I'd be dust in the wind.
I'm already on shakey ground this morning because my daughter got sick in bed last night at 1:30 am and I was till 3:00 cleaning up projectile vomit. Then the security system went off at 3:30 am and I was dealing with that till 4:30 because of a screwed up window sensor. Then up at 6:30 for this. Oh and I didn't get to bed till 12 because I insisted on watching MNF.

Brick stains COULD be from absorption/wicking.
Hard for me to tell if it is on the equipment or not.

The debris line on the fourth row of brick was the water line

My bets are on the cheap ass company did not heat the house and the pipes froze and broke and it ran for days before being found.
I have seen it happen:)
