I have this condenser fan motor that keeps changing rotation on its own. It was rotating wrong when I got there then I switched the wires and it was working fine then it turned off and when it came on again it was rotating the wrong way again? Anyone ever seen this before? I'm going to change the motor, but I've never seen this before?????????????:.02::beat:

Is the cap bad? If it is and its trying to start whatever way the wind blows the blade that's how it's going to start.

Is this on a residential or commercial unit?

check the cap, single phase will only run one direction unless it is already turning in the wrong direction, then it will continue in the wong direction. switching wire on single phase will have no effect.

Single pole contactors can allow a single phase motor to run backwards or noisy sometimes on shutdown. Fix is a 2 pole contactor
