The service valves appear to be something like an automotive r134 connector. These don't look like they will actually shut off the lines. Both lines have this fitting on them followed by schrader valve. This is on a mid '90s mobile home setup. It is an Intertherm a/c system with a 3 ton Bristol compressor. Apparently, pump down for service wasn't on their minds when system this was installed/designed.
Thank-you for your time and your help.

Hi Mike, and thankyou for replying! No, doesn't look like that. The valve is just before the lineset connection. It is a 2" tube that comes off line and at the end of the tube is what appears to be an r-134 auto a/c quick disconnect fitting. At some point the forum may allow me to post pictures and I can provide good photo's then.
Thankyou.

Get your post count up & then you will be able to post pics

Some of the old mobile home linesets had a type of fitting that would seal off when disconnected. As in move your home. Maybe those factory type fittings for quick evacuation.

Hey buford!
Your suggestion about these being quick evac ports makes sense. It does appear to be a quick connect fitting with a locking ridge similar to the automotive r-134 type. So, no shut off on this system. I was hoping to avoid having to recover the entire charge. What was going to be a reasonably quick evaporator swap will now take much more time. Oh well.
Once I get a few more posts, I'll add the photos so others can be familiar with this setup.

Hey I can't tell from the pic but I bet it is a core max, max flow valve seat.
your post said 2 inch but im sure you meant 1/2 inch. they are actually
between 3/8 and 1/2 but it is a special size.
I have seen them on aqua cal pool heaters.
mcQuay uses them and ICP does too.

Mobile home linesets often come "quick connect" to make them easier to install.
