I am finishing up hvac school. Can someone please explain to me how to find a job in the field. Everywhere I go people want experience. Everyone wants 2-3 years of experience. How do you find a starting point in this field? I have been told no more times than I can count due to lack of experience.

Deezo, how are you approaching shops about an opportunity? Also, where are you located?
Yes. I am located in southeast Alabama. We have 3 heating and cooling businesses in this town and I put in applications with all three. I talked to an independent contractor here today and he was looking for someone to build ductwork. He told me to call him back in two days. He wanted someone with more experience.

An old line is, if you need work, get out of town. Go where the jobs are. Especially if there are only three companies. And, as Circus said, where are you located?

How long did it take you to find your niche and get good.
I have only been in the trade for a little over three months, so I am still working with a lead technician. So far, I have done a good bit of everything but I do plan to be a Service Technician at some point though, I don't mind installs but where I work the Install guys don't get as many hours and make less an hour.
