Hello,

I am a Student, for a class project we have to size a pump for a system given...it uses a Chiller system.

Can anyone explain the difference of a MAU(Make up Unit) and OAU(Outside Air Units)

From what I can find MAU draw air from 100% out side source and removed humidity.. but so do OAUs.. Why not call a MAU a OAU?

In the Mechanical Schedule MAU is paired with the AHU were as the OAU are paired together separately.

Does the MAU have something to do with the AHU?

Make up air units usually replace air that is exhausted out of the building. An example would be a kitchen hood removing air and a make up air replacing the air that has been removed. They must be properly balanced. Without the make up air you would start exhausting conditioned air. Your space would also be negative. Anytime an outside door would open all the unconditioned and unfiltered air would get pulled in. Hope this helps. I am not sure how they work in your project without more details.
