Heat pump having problems. Ran this weekend then sometime during day it stopped...No compressor or fan motor. Went out and checked electrical..all good. Considered a Cap problem but after testing with anolog meter, no short. Tried checking contacter and shorted my meter however, the compressor tried starting. I put the cap back on and the heat pump fired up and ran. All was good.
Went to work this morning and heat pump turned on and all was good, figured a simple short in contactors. When I got home from the office, unit was off. Pool was warm so it must have run for several hours today. Removed the contactor cover and found one side was obviously burnt. Tried manually pushing in the contact and only compressor starts, no fan. Contact is bad though because as soon as I remove screw driver, contact pops back out and disconnects power to compressor.
Last thing I checked, put an amp meter on the lead off the cap to the compressor and reads 24v when the contact is pressed in making contact. When meter is moved to fan lead of capacitor and contact pushed in, no reading on amp meter.
Could the contact be burned and the cap be intermitting. Would this alliw the compressor to come on but with no fan, the compressore is overheating and causing the already weak contact to disconect. Checked cap again with meter and no short present.'
Ive tried to provide as much information as possible so that a HVAC pro could point me in the right direction. The is a 7 year old unit that was made by Pool Pak Model: Swim Temp V.
Thank you for any help in advance.
