That's what I am referring to.

I looked at a complete system install with R22 and R410A and the compressor unit alone was 2X the cost. the coil set was 55% higher. I don't think one can say that there is "very little difference at all".

Am I missing something?
I just had another Trane guy come. He was here for a total of 3 min!! NO manual anything. He saw I had 3 Ton and was it.
He said his price was no diff from R22 to the other. I won't have his price till tomorrow. He didn't check for my coil clearance and the first Trane guy did and said I had no room for a 14 Seer coil above my oil furnace. I have Lennox on Sat and Bryant on Monday. I expect more then 3 min of my time.

$500 = $300 ac + $150 furnace + $50 blower. 2 year $500 lmit blows, since I plan to replace all the old sliding doors etc. with dual pane.

It isn't just 15 seer on ac either, must be 12.5 EER as well, AND I just read that you should also be getting a Manufacturer's Certification Statement for each thing.

Its not the time they spend, its what they get from it. I would really prefer to shop features and costs, then pick a contractor and have them do a serious check out to make sure the equipment I want fits etc.

Maybe that's true. Maybe once I pick them, they will come back and work out size and take a closer look at the house??
