Hello again, I got a co-worker who is looking for a new set of R410A gauges with low loss fittings. However he needs reading glasses to read so he was wondering if anyone makes manifold gauges where the display is either magnified or printed in large print? Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will suggest digitals to him again but he wasn't too crazy about them. Plus I doubt he wants to spend $400-$500 on them.

How about mounting a fresnel lens about 4" above the gauges? You could put it behind a plexi-glass frame to protect it and mount it permanently. You can get them also at Staples or Office Max. You might even be able to trim one and put it behind the bezel of the gauge.

That's a great idea but I wonder how you would mount them? Or if you can cut that material and put it inside the lens without falling apart?

You can cut it.
If you mount anything do it to the manifold :.02:
Also keep it out of the sun the fresnel will burn your gauges or worse someones house down

410 analog gauges? WTF

Maybe if it was mounted directly to the lens but wouldn't that depends on the lens and you don't need a pin point beam
with a Fresnel Lens to light um up like a traditional magnifying lens.
I've had a few of these lenses.
If you want to burn something up quick get one of those magnifying glasses. They are great for that :.02:

If you have bad eyes the width of the needle alone on the Y/J covers a couple of degrees on the temp. chart.

Just wanted to follow up, I mentioned the options you guys discussed with me and the manifold set you showed me is what he had in mind. I see Amazon has these gauges for $77, see here: http://www.amazon.com/Yellow-Jacket-Manifolds-Gauges-Manifold/dp/B0039L0LGU

I just wanted to confirm these gauges on Amazon are the same exact models (Large Print, 410A, etc) and the price is good. Thanks again. :bump:

I always get a kick out of vain men that won't wear their readers....

Women will almost always put on the glasses to read something.

The men almost always ask "can you read this- I forgot my glasses"....

Tell him to buy a set of gauges that are large diameter from a manufacturer such as marsh gauges.

Might have to use a couple of 45 degree fittings on the manifold so that the gauges will clear each other and the body while installing.

They make large sized compound gauges too.... Ive seen 4 or 5 inch compound gauges on equipment before.....wasnt hvac equipment but it doesnt really matter.

I have vision problems also... although I can see a regular set of gauges..... but I have cataracts and Im putting off having anything done about them as long as possible....within reason.

But I have trouble seeing things due to things being darker to me....

Might not be vanity with this guy...especially in the contact lense age....

If someone has more money than sense out there...it would be pretty neat to have something like a manifold with 6 or 8 inch gauges on it.... would look pretty wild in my opinion. And maybe fit up some giant handscrews.....
