I love it when this happens. This shelf is also full of black pipe fittings, copper tubing fittings, and 3/4" pvc pipe fittings. It happened at the end of the day today and I'm afraid to look at whats underneath.

Feel free to comment on the way my refrigerant and nitrogen are secured. Maybe my boss will see your comments. I need to get some hoops for that.

them shelves work a whole lot better when they are standing up...:D

OUCH!!!

I had that happen once. Now it is bolted securely.

I custom built my shelves. Brought out the table saw and spent a long weekend playing carpenter. They are sturdy and the size I wanted. I have modified them twice, they are just the way I want them now.

This one was bolted in but the bolts pulled out for some reason. I think I'm gonna have to add a few extra this time.

I can't wait till morning. Gonna have a great day tomorrow.

That happened to me once... I spent a good half a day repairing and cleaning up. I cut some 1/8" strap about 2' long, put a 5/16" screw every 6 inches or so all the way up it (ran it vertically up the ribs of the van), then screwed the shelves to that... never came down since.

BTW... nice tank holder ;) I think I'd at least use a black bungee... but that's just me.

That would be due to the weak Chevy metal. ;)

Seriously, Chevy metal is as good for securing screws as the Carrier 50TJQxxx-xxx series RTU's. (Not good at all!)

Been there done that. 2 Weeks after I moved into a van I like to call "sloppy seconds"

I was riding in another guys van on an out of town job that week, so I didn't fix it right away. Few days later when I asked when I'd have time to clean it and secure the shelving properly (who in their right mind attatches shelves with #8 tek screws? Bolts and locknuts guys, come on!) my boss said "oh. I thought you'd do it on your own time. I was good enough to give you a van...."

Almost brings a tear to my eye seeing that picture. I feel your pain.

And my nitro tanks are still secured with rubber bungies. I use the ones too cracked to hold pipe on the roof :p

Real Safe.

Yeah, black bungees would be a nice upgrade. I'd better get some.

Well, after I checked it out better in the morning, I think that the bolts just vibrated off. I put in new ones and I was good to go. The brackets that were screwed into the metal held. Thanks for your concern as to the integrity of the metal in my bosses choice of make though. :)

The screws will vibrate out again, and most likely sooner than later.

Had my 3500 extended get t - boned on the drivers side, all of the shelving and associated parts and fittings were all over the place.

I feel your pain.

sorry for your bad luck Joe , use lock washers and extra fasteners dead tight. you should check them monthly cause the flex in the truck body loosens them . I found this out after i turned a corner and mine collapsed just like that , i thought a semi ran into me. Check em regularly , you'll be surprised how fast they loosen up.........Jack

Thanks for the tip. I just threw on some bolts to get me going again.

It wouldn't have happened in a ford.

Yeah, you are right... a LWB Ford would have the back end dragging so bad it would not go around a corner fast enough to dump a shelf... :D

I have noticed, if you go south, it's Ford. If you go north, it's Chevy. I wonder why that is.

I noticed that when I lived in FL for a little while.
